Antony Politcal Cartoon by Esteban Leguizamo

Out of all the characters in the play, Antony was the one that was perplexing.  He just dominated over everyone, yet he made himself out to be an imbecile in beginning.  Instead of  doing anything, he quite simply let everything happen. So in the cartoon he is doing exactly that, while reading his favorite book Julius Caesar.  One case that Antony shows that he couldn't care less what happened to his “dearest friend” Caesar was very apparent in the beginning, “Fear him not, Caesar; he’s not dangerous. He is a noble Roman, and well given.”(Act I, sc. ii, 206-207). Well, we all know how that ended up, very differently.  Funny thing is, Caesar was telling Antony why he feared him- which turned out to be true-yet he defended Cassius who is closest to the villain as you can get.  As it would turn out during the murder of Caesar, other Romans knew fully well of what was about to conspire. What of Antony, did he already know of what was to happen, also stabbing Caesar but in a different way. That is why Antony is reading the book while casually holding a dagger because is smart and very much involved. The dagger also just so happens to be red, mostly from the fact that he had already stabbed everyone in the back before anything could of happened. As the plot continues, Antony  just seems to be over everyone in a sense.
All of it just sums up to one conclusion, Antony is not fit be a leader.

As Caesar falls we must choose a new leader there are three candidates. Which are Cassius ,Antony, and Brutus they all have good qualities along with falts to match . The one most qualified would be Cassius .He can manipulate others to do as he wishes without them knowing it. That can prove to be useful in ruling later. In a political standpoint getting what the people and city need with his ways. That brings us to Antony he was Ceasars right hand man .He would have learned the politics of the city and what the people needed. He also would be loyal to them seeing he wasn't in Ceasars assination plot .Thus being loyal to Caesar would transfer over to be loyal to the people .Which would also make him a decent if not functional ruler. Now talking about Brutus he could make a good ruler. Looking past his falts in the matter. How Brutus took charge in the assination of Caesar  conspiring against him.Taking courage and bravery constructing the whole ordeal .Basically taking the leading role in it. Being able to lead /take charge would make Brutus a decent ruler.

Opinion editorial - Jay

Following the death of Caesar, we see Rome in the need of a new leader. There are three candidates willing to take the place of Caesar as the ruler of Rome. All three candidates seem to have what it takes to be a leader, however Antony seems to be the top candidate here. He has many good qualities that would justify his case. He is very close to Caesar, as in that he knows him well and knows what Caesar would do. He is his right hand man. Therefore, he would think like Caesar. He would know how to run Rome better and how to rule for the good of the people. He shows to actually care about the people. Therefore, he makes a good candidate fit to rule Rome.
Following Antony, Cassius would be the next best candidate. He is shown to be a good persuader. He is able to manipulate people with words, into doing his bidding. This could be helpful for him, as he could get the people of Rome into following his rule. However, he is a greedy person, and at sometimes, his greed can go up to his head. Therefore, his downfall could be when he makes the wrong call. His manipulation is shown when he persuades Brutus into taking part in the murder of Caesar.
Then, we have our last candidate, Brutus. He could potentially end up being an O.K. leader, but has some flaws that say otherwise. He is gullible, being manipulated easily. He could be lied to and not even know it. These candidates all have something to offer Rome, however when it comes to the top person, Antony takes the cake, as he shows more pros than cons.

Opinion Editorial - Daniel

With the death of Caesar, there is a spot to be filled in as to who will take his throne. There are three possible candidates for the job, however one seems to stand out the most. This is of course, Antony. Having many leadership qualities, Antony is the most admirable of the three. One of his many qualities include loyalty. Having been Caesar's right hand man, Antony understands the leadership position better than anyone. He knows how Caesar ran Rome and can use that to help perfect his mistakes. Of the three possible candidates, he was the only one who didn't participate in Caesar's assassination. Antony was very loyal to Caesar and did everything he could to satisfy him. Antony is also very intelligent. He is a great speaker and understand politics well. He also cares about the people, unlike the other candidates. He is ethical and makes decisions for himself. He is the most admirable and fit for the job. Cassius seems to be the runner up for the throne. He understands politics very well and is intelligent. However, he is a very selfish person. He is power hungry and does not care about the people at all. He is motivated by jealousy and personal gain. He is manipulative and not fit for the job as Antony is. Of the three candidates, Brutus is the least admirable. He is influenced easily by people and cannot make decisions on his own. Due to this, Cassius is able to manipulate him quite easily. He cannot even take charge in his own home, as Portia seems to be wearing the pants in the relationship. A man who cannot take charge in his own home should not be in charge of a large Roman society. Therefore, there is no other person better fit for the job but Antony. -Daniel, world's funniest man.

Leadership is a big part for a city like Rome now that the great all mighty Caesar has passed. And I think Antony is the one who deserves the crown. Antony has always been a loyal right hand man to Caesar and knows more about this position than the other two competitors. Antony knows more about Caesar as well and can use some of his techniques to perfect and make Rome better place. Antony was a very loyal right hand man and who's to say that he won't be with the people he does what is told and with that he knows what to tell others and what to act upon. He would Probably be a ruler that cares for the people and do what's right not only for him but, his city. For example he promised 2 months of wages and public gardens convincing the people to be on his side. Because Antony was so close to Caesar he might know some things that will help him get to the top and out weigh the others because of this advantage. He is also low on the radar we really wouldn't know how he'd be with power unlike with the other like Cassius who is a manipulator and Brutus who would be a person who takes the power over his head for example when Caesar was killed Brutus, was saying how they had freed Rome. And this all happened because of Cassius, persuading Brutus to join the him in killing Caesar. Even though Antony is the man for the job Cassius would be a close second for the throne. Cassius is a man who knows how to control people with harsh words and manipulation. This can be a good and bad thing. Good because he can easily get the people onto his side and make them think he is the next Caesar but, this could also back fire him because when the people find out that he is nothing but a bunch of nonsense then they will just overthrow him. Cassius is also a greedy man and wants things his way which in this case could be relatively good. He persuaded Brutus to come and help him kill Caesar, He said that even though he is a noble guy he still can be seduced like the others. Now this can be a good thing because he can show the people how evil Brutus is and can be easily thrown out of his chances to get the throne. And he did this by placing letters from 'citizens' saying that he should run Rome which just made the killing of Caesar a whole lot easier. Cassius could be a good leader but not as good as Antony. Even though Brutus can be an all powerful man with intensions of leading Rome to a new era. He is a very gullible person and all that power would probably go to his head. Brutus was convinced by Cassius that he should be the new leader but the whole tie this is just part of Cassius's plan to win over him. Cassius basically uses him for his powers and Brutus has no clue. This is why he would be a terrible leader compared to Antony how would know how to control himself and cares for other.
